~Until 1990, they sold Levi's jeans in their stores, but since then they have been selling private brands.

A manufacturer-retailer that plans its own products, has them manufactured on a contract basis, and sells them in its own chain stores.
They experienced rapid growth by targeting clothing for children and adults, specifically the teen generation.

The name GAP comes from the founder's idea during a discussion with friends about the generation gap.
