-Excellent vintage condition.
-Unsigned, but attributed to Miriam Haskell per:
-Similar shell brooch on page 152 from the book Miriam Haskell Jewelry by Cathy Gordon and Sheila Pamfiloff (see 2nd to last photo). That item was also unsigned, as pieces were not signed until the late 1940s.
-Use of small, iridescent turbo shells as featured in another well known early Haskell piece (see top section of 2nd to last photo).
-Natural clam seashells flower petals and a thick cluster of tiny glass turbo petholatus shells are hand wired into the center, then sewn onto a pierced plastic plate. The shortage of metal during World War II meant substituting metal backs with a pierced plastic back with the similar regularly placed holes. (See last photo.)
