Vintage beautiful oval jade nephrite brooch is framed in an ornate 12k Gold over Sterling setting. It is 1 1/2 “ long and 1” wide in the center. Marked Catamore 1/20-12 K.G.F. Catamore Jewelry Company, Inc. was a family-owned costume jewelry business in Providence, Rhode Island that operated from 1942 to 1981. The company was founded by Christopher and Phyllis Catanzaro.
Catamore jewelry was made of silver or covered in 12K gold. Nephrite is one of the two variations (the other one is jadeite) of jade rocks. It is often used in jewelry and other decorative items.
