The material of this snuff bottle is gold stone, a man-made glittering glass, made by reduction of particles of copper oxide within the glass during a process called annealing. The shape of this bottle is unusual vase shape with an elongated neck, sloping shoulders and raised oval foot. The mouth opening is quite large. This was probably a one of a kind bottle and not made in large quantities. A large bat raised design is carved on both sides. The bat is a good luck symbol in China. The finial or top is new. It is a tiger eye encased with a brass collar, a cork stopper and a metal spoon.
