Rhodonite is sometimes called peach blossom jade. It is a pink gem mineral and minor ore of manganese that gives rhodonite its pink huem and there it is recognized as a mineral of love and roses. The snuff bottle is a flattened form that is slightly tapered towards the bottom ending in a tiny raised oval shaped foot. The stopper is made of the same material and it has a metal spoon that is shaped like a hand. The top is flat and the opening is round. The body cavity has been hollowed out. A large bird with spread wing and tail is carved on one side. The appearance with the black veins is very dramatic.
