This pair of lovely, ornate trays is made of hammered aluminum. They were made by Continental in the 1950s. The larger tray is recessed, and the smaller one is divided. The center of each tray holds a raised, magnificently detailed chrysanthemum. There are large forged roses and their leaves at both ends of the recessed tray, and on the handle of the divided tray. The undersides hold the makers marks. The words “CONTINENTAL TRADE MARK” surround the logo, an American continental soldier. Underneath the soldier are the cursive words “Hand Wrought” and, in all lower case, “silverlook.” The numbers 533 (recessed) and 754 (divided) finish the marks.
There are scattered spots of aluminum darkening on the trays. There is shallow scratching in many areas, consistent with age and use.
