Flushing, Queens in New York City is the place where Shea Stadium (now Citi Field) hosts major league baseball talent. Two years shy of the Subway Series between the Yankees and Mets in 2000, this particular print captures the June 26, 1998 contest between the two teams. The presented Yankees at Mets Thomas Kolendra lithograph collection of (117) was inspired by that game. The pitcher is Al Leiter and the batter is Yankee second baseman and leadoff hitter Chuck Knoblauch. The game would see the Yankees win 8-4 behind a clutch home run by right fielder Paul O'Neill. The 36x15 lithograph captures summer baseball at Shea in the late 90s accurately in the opinion of this writer, who witnessed a number of such games.
