A very nice and unique pomegranate variety from the esteemed Dr Gregory Levin, who maintained the world's largest collection of pomegranates in Turkmenistan.
The Desertnyi gets its name from it being dessert-like in taste.
The fruit skin is light orange, and the inside arils are a dark purple.
The flavor is exceptional, with sweet-tart balance and a citrus note. People often say that Desertnyi has a distinct orange juice flavor.
The seeds are also very soft on this variety.
