Rare, fully natural sugilite crystal cabochon pendant from the famous Wessels Mine in Northern Cape Province, South Africa. Sugilite is a rare purple cyclosilicate mineral that’s also referred to as lavulite, luvulite, and royal azel. This is a top grade gem is a gorgeous, deep violet purple color with darker purple banding and patterns. The crystal has been hand carved and polished into a free form/ teardrop shaped cabochon. The sugilite is semi translucency, allowing light to pass through in areas for a gorgeous glow. The stone is set in a 925 silver pendant and bail, but is removable, making a fine mineral display piece. The crystal face and curved sides are glossy smooth, showing off the natural patterning and color. The sugilite measures approx 10 by 16mm on its own, and the full pendant size with the silver setting is 30 by 17mm.
