A set of (2) unique, and beautiful brass American Bald Eagle bookends. Engraved on the back, circa 1972 Colonial Virginia Hampton, VA
These appealing vintage brass bookends depict a spread-wing bald eagle perched on a rectangular base. The base is stamped with the date “1776.” The bookends were made by Colonial Virginia, a crafter working out of Hampton, Virginia in 1972. The realistic detail of the eagle is accentuated even more when light hits the reflective brass surface.
Eagles have long represented the United States and the bald eagle, in particular, has been the national symbol since 1782. As it is shown here, the eagle looks stoic and majestic. The “1776” stamped base celebrates our nation's independence and founding.
