Vintage Ted De Grazia Painted Necklace

LOS NINOS was painted in 1960 for the UNISEF organization that they could use on a greeting card and was one of his most successful compositions – over 5 million boxes were sold in English, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.

All oil painted by hand on a slice of faux elk horn made of resin.

It hangs from 32” dark brown suede leather tether that sports brown wood bead accents.

The sticker on the back : “Authorized by DeGrazia Gallery In The Sun, 6300 N. Swan, Tucson, Ariz.”.

The artist is Ettore Ted De Grazia. DeGrazia was of Italian ancestry, arrived in Arizona before it became a state. He is known for his colorful images of Native American children of the American Southwest and other Western scenes. As with many talented artists, he painted, sculpted, composed, acted, directed, designed clothing, did architecture, jewelry, and lithograph… pretty sure those are only the tip of the iceberg, too! He was born in 1909 and died in 1982.
