John Edwards PORCELAINE de TERRE England Luxembourg #883

Official Letter for Provenance from the British Pottery Manufacturers Federation in 1966! Ya know...back when they had to type things on typewriters. ;)

The Letter States:

It would appear from the Encyclopedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks by Geoffrey A. Godden, that your pitcher was produced by John Edwards (& Co.) of King Street, Fenton, Stroke-on-Trent, which company produced china and earthenwares between the years of 1847 and 1900. John Edwards commenced production at Longton, Stoke-on-Trent and moved to Fenton c.1853. The actual backstamp in your sctech was used by the firm between the years of 1890 and 1900, and the pattern no. 153150 was officially registered between January 1890 and January 1891. It would appear, therefore that your pitcher was produced between 1890 and 1900.
