Antique leatherbound copy (stated 49th edition, “Stereotype Edition”) of The Holy Bible containing The Old & New Testaments: Translated out of the Original Tongues (American Bible Society, 1829). Stereotypes by James Conner. A remarkable relic of Christian history, with this copy of the Bible being printed nearly two hundred years ago. A very worn copy with bowed boards, heavy scuffing/soiling to faces and wear around the edges. Corners bumped and chipped. Title plaque on spine mostly missing. Pages soiled, especially around the edges though text appears to still be quite legible. Some liquid damage around outer edges of text block. Hinges cracked though binding remains remarkably strong for the book’s age. Some minimal pencil/pen marks to margins and with some underlining. Several dog-eared pages. See photos for condition.
