Artist Elke Sommer
Elke was born 5 November 1940 in Berlin, Germany as Elke Baronesse von Schletz. Elke Sommer studied painting under Peter Bina. Much of painter Elke Sommer's work is bright and cheerful, but she has also created more sombre pieces, often including a crucifix as a reminder of her pastor father. Marc Chagall is considered one of her prime influences. In 1968, Elke Sommer, artist, was introduced to the public with an exhibition at Munich's Galerie Schumacher.
