This cup and saucer are important in the history of trademake law. The Meissen factory sued Helena Wolfsohn's factory to stop them from using Meissen's Augustus Rex mark. Helena Wolfsohn used this mark from 1878 to 1881. She was ordered to stop using it and the damages were so high, she was almost forced into bankruptcy.
This appears to be one of those cups and saucers with the AR (Augustus Rex) mark. Unfortunately, the handle is broken off. I had always planned to have it professionally repaired but never got around to it.
