This is a Tift and Whiting butter knife dating back to circa 1840-1853. Based on research, I believe the knife is made of coin silver, which typically contains 90% silver, and was a popular material for silverware during the 19th century. Marked with a Rooster, T&W, and Arm and Hammer (see last photo). Owners initials engraved on one side of handle. Overall, good condition. Some tarnishing and wear. Approximately 7” long. 37.54 grams. Color may vary by screen.
