This antique hardcover children's book is bound in pebbled dark brown cloth boards, with gilt lettering and decoration on the front cover and spine. Some edgewear; slight soil to pages; spine slightly cocked. Small bookseller's label on front inner board; gift inscription on an endpaper near the front. One page of publisher's ads at front; engraved frontispiece and first title page, plus eight full-page plates, and vignettes within the text. Contains short stories for children, including three Christmas tales. Virginia Frances Townsend was associate editor of T.S. Arthur's Lady's Home Magazine and began writing at a young age. 242 pages, plus publisher's ads at rear; approx. 5 x7 .
