In 1993, the Royal Hawaiian Mint Hawaiianized genuine U.S. coins into Aloha Money by counterstamping everyday change with a special ALOHA MONEY die on the obverse and the name of the coin on the reverse. It was a crazy idea that many people enjoyed and collected. The set of six, contained a counterstruck US penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar.
This quarter was a standard 1983-D in F grade before it was embellished.
Researchers claim there were only 275 sets made.
The final retail price of this coin was 65.25.
