This copper luster (British: lustre) pitcher has blue bands with hand decorated circles. There is beading just below the rim and at the waist. Lusterware is a type of pottery with a metallic glaze that gives the effect of iridescence; the result was objects for the middle class with shapes that resembled silver tea services. This pitcher, or milk jug, was made in England in the mid 1800's. The spout, fancy handle, bulbous body and tapered foot all combine to present a beautiful whole. Size: 5¾ inches high x 6½ inches wide. This piece is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs; there are minimal tiny scratches from moderate use. White spots in my photos are light reflections and not damage.
