The Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada opened on June 19, 1990. It was the largest hotel in the world until the MGM Grand opened in 1993. The Excalibur was one of the first themed casinos on the Strip. It was also the most heavily themed hotel in Las Vegas. Construction began in October 1988. The Excalibur was built by Circus Circus Enterprises, which was purchased by MGM Resorts International in 2005.
