The Chicago Athletic Association and the Chicago Cubs are forever tied together in history: The Chicago Athletic Association was founded in 1890 by some of Chicago’s wealthiest men, like Marshall Field, Cyrus McCormick and A.G. Spalding. William Wrigley was also a member. He bought the Cubs in 1915 and the baseball team adopted the CAA’s crest as its logo, forever binding the two properties. The CAA was a private men's club and remained so for all of the 20th century.
