This stunning painting is a rare reproduction/rendition of Frida Kahlo's iconic ‘Self-Portrait with Cropped Hair’. Its origin is unknown.

Measuring 11 inches by 16 inches it appears to be on canvas and features a soulful, moody palette of colors and intensity.

Frida Kahlo was a prolific Mexican painter of intense self-portraits; her painting often in the style of surrealism. In the 1940’s, Frida was divorced from Diego Rivera and cutting her hair was an act of loss, of the desire for independence.

Her life was filled with pain - polio as a child, serious injury from bus accident, 35 surgeries, etc. Her art reflects multiple facets of her life.

The painting is unframed and unsigned. It is the work of an unknown individual and thus, there is no way to authenticate.

Bottom line: it’s a stunning piece! It would be a wonderful addition to any Frida Kahlo collector.

It was rescued from a thrift store and truly needs a forever home . . . to be admired and enjoyed for years to come.
