This watercolor painting was inspired during our stay in Maui. On our way to a waterfall, we had to go through a trail almost fully covered in tropical trees. When I looked up in the sky, all I could see were big palm tree leaves in different shades of green. There is the vitality of life, security, and peacefulness.

The painting is 9.5 in x 7.5 in matted on an 15.5 in x 12.5 in frame.

About the Artist: J. Zhao

Art has always been my passion since I can remember, though it took a long time and courage for me to call it a profession. I spent quite some time in school: earned my Ph.D. in education and worked briefly in academia, teaching and doing research.

My new job titles both as an artist and art teacher, however, began when I started homeschooling my kids during the pandemic. I like to share my artwork and activities on various social media, and from there I get people interested in buying my art and asking me to be their kids’ art instructor.
