This is a beautiful flow blue earthenware Staffordshire souvenir plate of Topeka, Kansas, by the Rowland & Marsellus & Company of Staffordshire England. Designed and imported by E.D. Giles & Co., Topeka, Kansas. It is in excellent condition with no chips and only some minor crazing, hard to see. The following scenes are on the front: The State Capitol, Shawnee County Courthouse, Public Library, Rock Island Depot, Washburn College, College of the Sisters of Bethany, Wolf Hall and the Melan Arch Bridge. Rowland & Marsellus were importers, wholesalers and retailers, especially of 'souvenir' wares operating out of New York, c.1893 -1938. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE & ANTIQUES EARTHENWARE IN LIKE NEW CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
