First American edition, first printing hardcover copy of Prince of Aesthetes: Count Robert de Montesquiou by Philippe Jullian (Viking, 1968). Biography of the iconic Parisian nobleman who was seemingly involved in all aspects of art and expression in the area at the time. He was the subject of many famous paintings and numerous authors were said to have based famous characters after him and his unique personality. Jacket has some wear, especially around the edges where it is chipped, creased and with small tears. Boards are straight and clean but with corners bumped. Spine is slanted and binding faintly visible in several gutters. However, hinges remain secure and all pages are attached. No writing inside or out. See photos for condition.
