Book dimensions are 8×5.6×1.3 inches,1 lbs.,412 pages. The author's prison employment career started in 1905 as a prison guard in New York. After two promotions, Mr. Lawes was asked by then New York Governor Al Smith to accept the Warden position at Sing Sing which he did in 1920 and remained there for the next 21 years. This autobiography is an account of his tenure as Warden and his successful fight for the institution of numerous prison reforms until his retirement in 1941. He passed away in 1947.
