MOISSANITE: Moissanite was discovered by Henri Moissan while examining a meteor crater in 1893. At first, he mistakenly identified the crystals as diamonds, but in 1904 he identified the crystals as silicon carbide. Moissanite was named in honor of Moissan. On the Mohs scale of hardness, Moissanite scores 9.25, the hardest gemstone second to diamond.Moissanite share the similar color, hardness and element with diamond, and 2.5 times brilliance than diamonds.
