Rare Set of 11 Antique Marx & Gutherz Carlsbad Austria 5.5” Dessert side bread small Plate Red Wild Roses
These filigree and elegant pattern has a scalloped rim with gold decor between the scallops .
. Along the rim you find a
fine band with fine brown swirls and a crown like looking ornaments. The same band is decorated around the center which shows a star like emblem. Evenly spread on the
wavy rim you find wild roses garland with green leaves, stems and thorns.
Marx & Gutherz was founded in 1876 by Maximilian Marx and Oscar Gutherz in Altrohlau, Austria (today Czech Republic). All plates have a double circle mark on the back which includes Marx & Gutherz Carlsbad . Below the mark it says Austria . This mark was used by Marx & Gutherz from 1876 to 1889. You also find hand written red numbers on all plates, 2372 and 94, which probably are the decorator's number and the stock/pattern number.
The set is in fine antique condition.
