Moon-seup Shim
He received an award at the 1970 Korean Art Exhibition. He went on to exhibit at Expo '70, the Paris Biennale in 1971 and 1973, establishing an important position domestically. His works show strong elements of the Mono-ha movement that developed in Korea and Japan in the 1970s. In his early works, there was a series called Relations where he confirmed the composition of materials such as soil, paper, and iron. Starting around 1973, he explored the composition of forms by adding to these materials in a series titled Opening . Later, he transitioned to a series named Wood Deities , where he utilized the shapes of torn wood to create animistic compositions in space.
