This is a rare set - 6 St Amand et Hamage large dinner plates in such amazingly good condition. The design - Regence- combines elegant honeysuckle and scrolls and a decorative scalloped edge. These beautiful ironstone ( terre de fer) plates are full of symbolism - the roots, buds, flowers and entwined tendrils of the honeysuckle tell their own story. The porcelain is fresh and white with a clear glaze, the various tones of the blue transfer ware are beautifully subtle. Some of my photos have a slight yellow cast - this is due to the changing light when I took the photos - in fact the plates are all perfectly identical in the shade of white which is the whiter white in the photos.
