This collection features five antique books in beautiful and ornate leather bindings. Includes two volumes of Ralph Waldo Emerson, a history of the United States, a reference manual for the New York State assembly and a volume from Motley's history of the Dutch Republic. Books range in size from 5 x 7 to 7 x 9 inches. Two feature full leather bindings, others have three-quarter leather bindings over marbled boards. Some with marbled endpapers. Dates of these books vary, earliest is 1860s running to 1901. Books show mild to heavy wear and soil, some foxing, worn bindings, bumped corners, etc. The Two Republics is missing illustrations, the hinges on Emerson's Essays are quite worn.
