I am so pleased to be able to offer this set of great sterling silver and onyx earrings, circa 1950s, by well known Modernist artist, Enrique Ledesma of Taxco, Mexico. The Modernist motif is a stylized U form. The pin closes with a well working safety clasp. Simply a marvelous and showy piece by this artisan!
Ledesma was an artist first, studying at the San Carlos Academy of Art in Mexico City before becoming an apprentice in his father's workshop. Ledesma soon moved to Taxco and began working with William Spratling and then Los Castillo before establishing his own workshop in 1950. Ledesma is well known for the fact that his jewelry is technically flawless and wearable pieces of art. A true investment and an heirloom!
