This listing is for a 26 x 19 , one-of-a-kind, signed hand-drawn cartoon by 1988 Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Doug Marlette. Marlette is best known for being the creator of the comic strip KUDZU. The strip was syndicated in 300 publications and ran for 26 years until his unfortunate passing in 2007.

This signed cartoon is inscribed Best To The Best, Wendell Rawls--Doug Marlette (Marlette, The Atlanta Constitution ©1987) . The piece was given to his coworker Wendell Rawls in '87 at the Atlanta newspaper, The Atlanta Constitution. Wendell Rawls was also the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for investigative journalism at the Philadelphia Inquirer in 1977!

The cartoon itself is of famed civil rights leader Julian Bond who was involved in a drug scandal while running for political office in 1987.

This nicely framed, hand-drawn cartoon is not only a great piece of cartoon/comic strip history, but also of journalistic history as well.

Thanks for checking it out!!
