This is a lovely Japanese Kyo-ware chawan or tea bowl. It features a Japanese castle with cherry blossoms on a cream background. The inside of the bowl has cherry blossoms as well as gold overglaze. The seal/stamp of the potter is on the bottom.
Measures approximately 3 x 4.7 inches.
In very good condition with no chips or cracks.

A chawan is a Japanese tea bowl used to prepare and serve matcha tea. They are also used during a Japanese tea ceremony.
Kyo-ware dates back to the 17th century Kyoto and features overglaze enamel pigments on a porcelain base. Kyo-ware is considered a traditional craft of Japan.
