A Mid-Century Modern freeform art pottery ashtray chimney dish by American artist, sculptor, and ceramicist, Sascha Brastoff (1918-1993) dating circa 1960s.
The central decoration of a whimsical hand-painted peacock features flamboyant, jeweled plumage in blue and teal green with gold and black accents.
The chimney shaped ashtray has a glossy glazed finish and is in MINT condition measuring 5.5 in. long x 5.25 in. wide x 6.25 in. height
Original paperwork included.
Signed Sascha B in gold on the lower left by peacock’s tail.
The base is marked with a golden Rooster backstamp over Sascha Brastoff / California / U.S.A. / H3 (style number).
Brastoff was active in Los Angeles from 1947-1963
