I purchased this last year, but I've only had the chance to wear it about once, and it has been stored at home ever since.

- Product Description
The A-2 Deck Jacket was adopted as a successor to the N-1, serving as a cold-weather jacket for deck crew working on ships in the early 1960s. The officially adopted military specification color for the A-2 Deck Jacket was olive drab; however, this jacket was produced for civilian use and features a different navy color than the military-issued items. Many jackets and coats officially adopted by the U.S. Navy have a navy color that represents their pride, making this jacket embody the dignified aura inherent to government-issued gear.

This jacket was lovingly worn by the maintenance crew of the HC-3 Helicopter Combat Support Squadron. This squadron was established in September 1967 and was tasked with airlifting supplies to the fleet using the CH-46 transport helicopter. The unit's nickname derives from the migratory bird Merlin, which breeds in North America. The patch of the HC-3 squadron on the right chest features a night-and-day design against a dark navy and white background, symbolizing the wings that carry the Earth, representing the squadron's mission. On the left shoulder is a patch from North Island Naval Air Station, which serves as the squadron's home base. The back of the jacket features a stencil commemorating the accomplishments of the 104th Detachment of the squadron during missions around Japan.
